What Is The Design FMEA Class Column?

When properly determined, the Class Column identifies the risk a company will be exposed to as a result of the design weakness described in the Failure Cause column. Typically this column is used to quickly isolate and highlight specific lines of concern based on a predetermined combination of Severity, Occurrence and Detection levels.

Many suppliers will use a Class Symbol scheme as defined by their customer, or symbols defined by companies such as Ford or General Motors.
